After a string of seven wins, Grundy's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They had to suffer through a 84-43 loss at the hands of the Pike County Central Hawks. While losing is never fun, the Golden Wave can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 229th in Virginia, while the Hawks are ranked 84th in Kentucky).

Grundy's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-6. As for Pike County Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.

Grundy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Hurley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hurley is on a three-game streak of home wins, Grundy a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Pike County Central, they will welcome Breathitt County at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
