Baseball Recap: Bellarmine College Prep Takes a Loss

Bellarmine College Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 3-2 to the Archbishop Riordan Crusaders, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Bells were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Crusaders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Preston Pera was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits.

On the hitting side, Bellarmine College Prep saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dash Knight, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Nate Bateman also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Bellarmine College Prep now has a losing record of 11-12. As for Archbishop Riordan, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-14-1 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Bellarmine College Prep beat Archbishop Riordan by a score of 7-2 on Saturday.
