Softball Recap: St. John Paul II Triumphs

St. John Paul II was handed a six-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Marianna Bulldogs 16-14. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Panthers considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

AMANDA THOMPSON was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up six earned (and six unearned) runs off ten hits. THOMPSON was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs, four runs, and five RBI while going 4-for-5.

In other batting news, SHAVON STEWART and JALIYA CONYERS did most of the damage at the plate: STEWART scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5, while CONYERS got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of LANELL LOUIS, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one triple and one run.
