Lamar typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Simpson Academy proved too difficult a challenge. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 win over the Raiders. This was a revenge game for the Cougars: when they faced off against the Raiders last Tuesday, they had to take a 5-3 loss.

Barrett McKenney was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Chase Adcock was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.

McKenney wasn't the only one making solid contact: Simpson Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. The Cougars are a perfect 8-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory snapped Simpson Academy's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 16-9 record. As for Lamar, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 19-6-2.

Simpson Academy will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Raiders: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
