Baseball Recap: Bertie Takes a Loss

Bertie lost against Martin County last Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Falcons came up short against the Gators, falling 13-1. The Falcons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Bertie saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tayvien Ward, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Bertie's loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Martin County, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bertie will head out to take on Gates County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Red Barons will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Martin County, they are taking a road trip to square off against Perquimans at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Gators' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pirates have averaged an impressive 10.2 runs per game this season.
