Softball Game Preview: Wissahickon Trojans vs. Abington Galloping Ghosts

The Wissahickon Trojans will venture away from home to face off against the Abington Galloping Ghosts at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Wissahickon has given up an average of 9.2 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Wissahickon fell victim to Plymouth Whitemarsh and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Colonials, falling 14-0. The loss continues a trend for the Trojans in their meetings with the Colonials: they've now lost seven in a row.

Meanwhile, Abington can bid farewell to their ten-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They put the hurt on Cheltenham with a sharp 10-0 win. Considering the Galloping Ghosts' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Abington let Mia Lucke and Lily Rodgers run wild. Lucke got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Rodgers went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Those two runs gave Lucke a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Paige Holden, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Abington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Wissahickon's defeat dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Abington, their record now sits at 3-11.

Wissahickon beat Abington 6-2 in their previous matchup back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
