Volleyball Recap: Chequamegon Comes Up Short

Chequamegon lost against Prentice back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Screaming Eagles took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Buccaneers.

Chequamegon was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-14.

Angelina BeBeau paced Chequamegon's offense, picking up four kills. BeBeau got some help from Jalen Brunell and her 11 assists. BeBeau also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Gretchen Eder, racking up two apiece.

Prentice was led to victory by Piper Heikkinen and Luca Blomberg. Heikkinen had nine digs and one assist, while Blomberg had three digs and one assist.

Chequamegon's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Prentice, their win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chequamegon will venture away from home to face off against Butternut at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Screaming Eagles are facing the Midgets at the right time seeing as the Midgets are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Prentice, they are taking a road trip to take on Thorp at 5:00 p.m. on September 4.
