Baseball Recap: Deckerville Gets the Win

Deckerville came out on top against North Huron on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Eagles took their matchup against the Warriors 9-4. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won four in a row.

Ashton Peruski was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). Peruski was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Deckerville got a big performance out of Caden Franzel, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits Franzel has posted since back in May of 2025. Evan Benjey was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Deckerville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Huron only posted an OBP of .318.

Deckerville's record is now 3-5. As for North Huron, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Deckerville will challenge Brown City at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for North Huron, they will face off against Caseville at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
