Baseball Recap: York Snaps Three-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

York's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They never let the Proviso East Pirates get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Dukes, who have now won ten matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Nathan Rickenbrode looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.

At the plate, Luke Pieczynski was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Evan Mendiola was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI.

York's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 19-9. As for Proviso East, they dropped their record down to 3-23 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight at home.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. York will challenge Downers Grove North at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Dukes' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season. As for Proviso East, they will take on Berwyn/Cicero Morton at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Mustangs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed eight runs per game on average), something the Pirates will no doubt try to take advantage of.
