Baseball Recap: West Marion Comes Up Short

The matchup between West Marion and Sumrall on Saturday hardly resembled the 2-1 effort from their previous meeting. The West Marion Trojans lost 15-5 to the Sumrall Bobcats. The Trojans have struggled against the Bobcats recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

West Marion saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trace McDonald, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

West Marion's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Sumrall, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Marion will welcome Lawrence County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Marion has given up an average of 9.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Sumrall, they will host Taylorsville at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
