Softball Recap: Union County Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Union County entered their tilt with Monroe Central on Monday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Golden Bears with a sharp 12-2 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Patriots also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2022.

Union County let Harly Pilgrim and Addisyn Schneider run wild. Pilgrim went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base, while Schneider went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave Schneider a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackinzey Carter, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.

Union County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Union County's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-6. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Monroe Central, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-14.

Coming up, Union County will be playing at home against Tri at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Titans have averaged an impressive 9.7 runs per game this season. As for Monroe Central, they are taking a road trip to take on Southern Wells at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
