Basketball Recap: Carbon Falls Despite Big Games from Bailey Curtis and Malia Smith

Carbon lost against Manti back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Carbon Dinos came up short against the Manti Templars, falling 56-32. The Dinos have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Carbon's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Malia Smith, who posted nine points, and Bailey Curtis, who put up seven points and eight rebounds. Those nine points gave Smith a new career-high.

Manti's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but June Olsen led the charge by going 6 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 23 points and eight boards. The contest was Olsen's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Baylee Denton was another key player, putting up seven points along with eight rebounds and five steals.

Carbon's defeat dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Manti, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-10.

Carbon will face off against Emery at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Manti has already played their next match (against North Sanpete), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
