Baseball Recap: Pomona Drops Highest Score of Season Against Wheat Ridge

Pomona not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 30, 2024. They blew past the Wheat Ridge Farmers 13-2. The Panthers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Tyler Dempsey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up seven Ks. Those seven strikeouts set a new season-high mark for him.

At the plate, Maddux Najera was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while going 2-for-3. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brodie Saggau, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3.

Pomona pushed their record up to 4-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Wheat Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

Pomona wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, an 11-3 loss against Evergreen on the 9th. As for Wheat Ridge, they will challenge Littleton at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.88 runs per game on average), something the Farmers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
