Baseball Recap: Vel Phillips Memorial Find Success

Vel Phillips Memorial had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 18-8-1 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out the DeForest Norskies 6-4. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Spartans also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2023.

The team relied heavily on Bryce Belshaw, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Duncan Vogel also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

As for DeForest, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-16 record this season. They have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

On DeForest's side, they saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cullen Kirchberg, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

As of now, neither Vel Phillips Memorial nor the Norskies have any future games scheduled.
