Basketball Preview: West Valley Eagles vs. University Prep Panthers

West Valley is 1-9 against the Panthers since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The West Valley Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the University Prep Panthers at 7:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as West Valley comes in on three and the Panthers on ten.

Last Friday, West Valley was fully in charge, breezing past the Cubs 82-52 on the road. West Valley pushed the score to 71-39 by the end of the third, a deficit the Cubs cut but never quite recovered from.

Chase Kalnins continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 23 points along with seven steals. He hasn't dropped below 15 points for four straight games. Jordan Heacock was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five assists and three steals.

Meanwhile, University Prep stacked an 11th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 82-57 margin over Central Valley. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

West Valley now has a winning record of 13-12. As for University Prep, they pushed their record up to 18-8 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road.

West Valley suffered a grim 75-49 defeat to the Panthers when the teams last played back in January. Can West Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
