Softball Recap: Rosamond Takes a Loss

Rosamond dropped their record down to 11-11 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Immanuel Christian Crusaders, falling 23-5. The Roadrunners were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Crusaders earlier this season, when they won 11-10.

Lily Reeder was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Alysia Rico, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

As for Immanuel Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.1 runs over those games.

On Immanuel Christian's side, Abigail Barham made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Barham has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one double.

In other batting news, Immanuel Christian let Ava Blakie and Chloe Loughlin run wild. Blakie went 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI, while Loughlin went 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs Blakie has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Charlotte Cabrera, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Coming up, Rosamond will welcome Frazier Mountain at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Immanuel Christian, they will venture away from home to challenge Lee Vining at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
