Recap: Calvary Christian Academy Eagles vs. Somerset Academy - Canyons Cougars
The Calvary Christian Academy Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They were dealt a 66-26 defeat at the hands of Somerset Academy - Canyons. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Calvary Christian Academy has scored all season.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Taryn Wakefield, who scored seven points.
Somerset Academy - Canyons' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alanna Fabrini led the charge by scoring 14 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. The matchup was Fabrini's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Delanie Doty, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds.
Calvary Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Somerset Academy - Canyons, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
Calvary Christian Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Atlantic at 3:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Atlantic is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. Somerset Academy - Canyons and Arlington Heights will round out the year against one another at 9:55 a.m. on Wednesday at. Arlington Heights will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 447th in Texas, while Somerset Academy - Canyons is ranked 53rd in Florida).
