Baseball Recap: South Tahoe's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

South Tahoe came out on top against Grant on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fourth inning. The Vikings' pitcher stepped up to hand the Pacers a 12-0 shutout. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Vikings as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Cruz Hernandez was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. Hernandez was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. He has become a key player for South Tahoe: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-16 otherwise.

In other batting news, Parker Bryant was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Evan Poulter also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

South Tahoe always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Grant only posted an OBP of .167.

South Tahoe's record is now 4-17. As for Grant, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 14 of their last 16 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-17 record this season.

South Tahoe didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 16-0 victory against Hug on the 18th. As for Grant, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 12-2 defeat against West Park on the 22nd.
