The Monterey Dores are taking a road trip to take on the Palma Chieftains at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Monterey has eight straight wins, Palma has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Friday, Monterey got the win against Watsonville by a conclusive 10-1. The result was nothing new for the Dores, who have now won seven games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Ella Myers made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Denae Lee was incredible, firing off two home runs and three RBI while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Eastin Jennings, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run.
Monterey kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Palma came up short against Hollister on Monday and fell 6-1.
Analysia Rocha made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run.
Monterey pushed their record up to 16-3-1 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Palma, their loss dropped their record down to 5-12-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Monterey has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Palma struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Monterey was able to grind out a solid victory over Palma when the teams last played back in April, winning 5-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dores since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
