Recap: Coolidge Colts vs. Bell Griffins
On Wednesday, the Coolidge Colts faced the Bell Griffins in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Coolidge really took it to Bell for the full four quarters, racking up a 62-7 victory at home. That looming 62-7 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Coolidge yet this season.
Coolidge found their leader in underclassman Josslyn Derricott, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 15 rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Derricott has scored at least a third of Coolidge's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylyn Derricott, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds.
Coolidge pushed their record up to 8-8 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.2 points per game. As for Bell, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-7.
Coolidge will look to defend their home court on Friday against Bard at 5:30 p.m. Bard comes in on a streak of failing to score more than eight points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Bell, they will head out on the road to challenge Jackson-Reed at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
