Baseball Recap: East Rockingham Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

East Rockingham extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 12-3 in the process. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over the Turner Ashby Knights. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-10 back in April.

Landon Bruce spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Will Eppard was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Grason Shifflett, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

As for Turner Ashby, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss they have suffered since April 15th.

On Turner Ashby's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Will Knicely, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Rockingham will head out to take on Harrisonburg at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles are facing the Blue Streaks at the right time seeing as the Blue Streaks are stuck on a 14-game losing streak. As for Turner Ashby, they will challenge Rockbridge County at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
