Softball Recap: Marshall Extends Winning Streak to Four

Marshall extended their postseason success on Thursday against Turner. They had just enough and edged out the Trojans 1-0. That's more bragging rights for the Cardinals, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The result came thanks to Kennedy Weisensel's shutout, as she gave up just six hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 21 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Marshall secured the victory behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Makayla Nemec, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

The win was the fourth in a row for Marshall, bringing their record up to 17-10. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 4.25 runs across that stretch. As for Turner, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-4.

Coming up, Marshall will take on Poynette at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pumas' pitching crew has only allowed 1.3 runs per game this season, so the Cardinals' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Turner does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
