Football Game Preview: Horizon Hawks vs. Davenport Broncos + How To Watch

The Horizon Hawks are taking a road trip to challenge the Davenport Broncos at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Horizon will be strutting in after a victory while Davenport will be coming in after a loss.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Horizon turned things around against Lake Minneola on Friday. They claimed a resounding 59-8 win over Lake Minneola. Horizon's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

It was another big night for Kaio Oliveira, who rushed for 198 yards and four touchdowns on only 11 carries. Those 198 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Markese Tatum was another key rusher, rushing for 60 yards and one score.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Horizon was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 343 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in four consecutive matchups.

Horizon didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Blake Mottley and AJ Feth. Horizon got some further help from Alex Whitfield: he picked up two sacks and made three total tackles.

Meanwhile, Davenport unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 28-24 hit to the loss column at the hands of Forest. While the Broncos had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Wildcats 18-14.

Horizon's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-5. As for Davenport, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.

Horizon was dealt a bruising 37-7 defeat at the hands of Davenport in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Can the Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
