Football Recap: Evan Greenfield and Markus Nelson Secure Win for Norris

Norris hadn't done well against Gretna recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Titans took down the Dragons 52-35. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Titans.

Leading Norris to victory were Markus Nelson and Evan Greenfield. Nelson rushed for 199 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.0 yards per carry, while Greenfield rushed for 99 yards and three scores on only 13 carries. That's the most rushing yards Nelson has posted since back in September of 2024.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Norris was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 331 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gretna only rushed for 127 rushing yards.

Several Dragons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ayden Furstenau, who rushed for 84 yards and a pair of TDs, and also picked up 50 receiving yards and one touchdown. Michael Knudsen was another key player, having thrown for 262 yards and two touchdowns.

Norris has also opened the season with a perfect 2-0 record. As for Gretna, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Norris and Gretna should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings. The Titans will take on Lincoln Northwest at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (16 vs. 125). Meanwhile, Gretna (ranked 19th) will meet Blair (ranked 76th) at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
