Basketball Recap: Greenback Takes a Loss

Greenback was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 45-23 to the Rockwood Tigers. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Cherokees have suffered against the Tigers since November 24, 2020.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rockwood to victory, but perhaps none more so than Collin Abston, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 14 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Adrian Darby, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 12 points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Greenback's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Rockwood, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Greenback and Cumberland Gap will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Rockwood will take on Wartburg Central in a holiday battle at at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
