Recap: Golden Demons vs. Dakota Ridge Eagles
The Golden Demons suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Wednesday. They fell just short of Dakota Ridge by a score of 43-41. Golden was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Dakota Ridge apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Golden lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kempley Wellman, who scored 15 points. Another player making a difference was Allie Neal, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Dakota Ridge was led to victory by Maryn Talyat and Hannah Galbreath. Talyat scored ten points along with six assists and five rebounds, while Galbreath scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. Talyat is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played.
This is the second loss in a row for Golden and nudges their season record down to 5-6. As for Dakota Ridge, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-6.
Golden on the road again on Wednesday and play against Wheat Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th. As for Dakota Ridge, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Green Mountain at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Green Mountain presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Dakota Ridge in Colorado (Green Mountain is ranked 47th, while Dakota Ridge is ranked 149th).
