Volleyball Recap: Markesan Comes Up Short

Markesan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 2-0 to the Johnson Creek Bluejays. The Hornets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bluejays apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Markesan's offense was headlined by Jaci Walker and Mia Vande Berg, who picked up five kills apiece. They got some help from Brynn Jackowski and her 12 assists.

Johnson Creek was led to victory by Kira Boehm and Rozilyn Cheaney. Boehm had eight digs and three aces, while Cheaney had three digs and three aces. Those three aces gave Cheaney a new career-high.

Markesan's defeat dropped their record down to 9-22. As for Johnson Creek, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season.

Markesan didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Palmyra-Eagle on the 11th. As for Johnson Creek, they have also already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Central Wisconsin Christian on the 9th.
