Soccer Game Preview: Oak Mountain vs. Vestavia Hills

The Oak Mountain Eagles will square off against the Vestavia Hills Rebels at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Oak Mountain has 15 straight wins, Vestavia Hills has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Oak Mountain had to skate by with only a one-goal margin when they last took the pitch, which might have inspired the five-goal drubbing they dealt Leeds on Tuesday. Oak Mountain was the clear victors by a 6-1 margin over Leeds. Considering the Eagles have won 11 contests by more than three goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Their offense was hitting Leeds from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Ben West led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by himself.

Meanwhile, Vestavia Hills came up short against Hoover on Thursday and fell 3-1. While losing is never fun, the Rebels can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama soccer rankings (they are ranked 49th, while the Buccaneers are ranked second).

Vestavia Hills' loss dropped their record down to 2-5-1. As for Oak Mountain, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-0.

Everything went Oak Mountain's way against Vestavia Hills in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Oak Mountain made off with a 3-0 win. Does Oak Mountain have another victory up their sleeve, or will Vestavia Hills turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
