Recap: Linden Tigers vs. Peninsula Catholic Knights
It was a good run, but the Linden Tigers unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of Peninsula Catholic by a score of 55-53. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Linden has scored all season.
Peninsula Catholic's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was EJ Joyner, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and four steals. The match was Joyner's third in a row with at least ten points. Jaylen Wynn was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five rebounds and three blocks.
Linden's loss dropped their record down to 6-1. As for Peninsula Catholic, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Linden will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Rahway on January 2nd. Rahway will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings (they are ranked 188th, while Linden is ranked 28th). As for Peninsula Catholic, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hampton Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 8th.
