Basketball Game Preview: Celeste Blue Devils vs. Honey Grove Warriors

Celeste hasn't had much luck against Honey Grove recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Celeste Blue Devils will square off against the Honey Grove Warriors at 6:30 p.m.

Celeste is headed into the game having just suffered their closest loss since December 29, 2023 on Friday. They fell just short of Whitewright by a score of 41-38. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Blue Devils have suffered against the Tigers since November 17, 2018.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Honey Grove over Trenton in every quarter on their way to victory on Saturday. Honey Grove was the clear victor by a 35-11 margin over Trenton. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 551st, while the Tigers are ranked 1373rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Honey Grove has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-10 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.6 points per game. As for Celeste, their loss dropped their record down to 20-8.

Celeste skirted past Honey Grove 45-43 in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Celeste since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
