Basketball Recap: Stewarts Creek Comes Up Short

Stewarts Creek was the 71-67 winner over Cookeville when they last played one another two weeks ago, but their luck changed this time around. The Stewarts Creek Red Hawks lost to the Cookeville Cavaliers on the road by a 51-37 margin on Friday. That's two games in a row now that the Red Hawks have lost by exactly 14 points.

Allie Gillies continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Cookeville, going 7-for-16 en route to 18 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Cara Lee Gilbert, who posted 12 points and five boards.

This is the second loss in a row for Stewarts Creek and nudges their season record down to 16-11. As for Cookeville, they pushed their record up to 19-6 with the win, which was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Cookeville beat Stewarts Creek by a score of 56-37 on February 22nd.
