Soccer Game Preview: Denver North vs. Hinkley

The Denver North Vikings will head out to challenge the Hinkley Thunder at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Denver North's last five matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Denver North is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Colorado's top teams: Northfield, who was ranked fourth at the time (Denver North was ranked 23rd). The Vikings fell just short of the Nighthawks by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday. Denver North have struggled against Northfield recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Denver North's goal came courtesy of Owen Clough, who's now up to eight this season.

Meanwhile, Hinkley fell victim to Denver East and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They lost 4-0 to the Angels. Jorge Mata was hit with a yellow card, which may have had some impact on his (and the team's) ability to make aggressive plays.

Hinkley's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8-3. As for Denver North, their loss dropped their record down to 6-2-2.

Everything went Denver North's way against Hinkley in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as Denver North made off with a 5-2 win. In that contest, the Vikings amassed a halftime lead of 4-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Wednesday.
