Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Kouts walked away with it. They blew past the Union City Indians 7-1 on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs & Fillies, who have now won 19 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Landon Garrett spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ben Finney, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May. The team also got some help courtesy of Billy Miller, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Kouts is on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 18 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-6 record this season. As for Union City, they moved to 13-12 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Kouts wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 5-0 victory against Clinton Prairie on the 14th. Union City does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
