Softball Game Preview: Harding Knights vs. Humboldt Hawks

The Harding Knights will take on the Humboldt Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Harding is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.3 runs per game this season.

On Wednesday, Harding made easy work of Brooklyn Center and carried off a 19-2 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Knights.

Avorn Vang made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Marcela Deloye-Romero was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Angie Yang was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Harding hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Humboldt was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 23-5 to Como Park.

Harding pushed their record up to 6-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.3 runs over those games. As for Humboldt, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.

Everything went Harding's way against Humboldt in their previous meeting two weeks ago, as Harding made off with a 22-7 victory. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
