Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is New Covenant Academy's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

New Covenant Academy lost to Galena back in May of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Warriors blew past the Bears 12-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Warriors have posted against the Bears since May 15, 2018.

Keilynn Armitage looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brighton Guisinger, who went 4-for-5 with six RBI, one run, and one double. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caleb Cagle, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

New Covenant Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Galena only posted a batting average of .214.

New Covenant Academy has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Galena, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-7.

Looking ahead, New Covenant Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Early at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. Galena does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
