Baseball Recap: Santa Fe Catholic Takes a Loss

It was a Battle of the Birds when Santa Fe Catholic duked it out with George Jenkins on Thursday. The Hawks took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. The Hawks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 2-0.

Santa Fe Catholic got a good showing from Nomar Ortiz, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Ortiz has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Marvin Montenegro was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

This is the second loss in a row for Santa Fe Catholic and nudges their season record down to 19-5. As for George Jenkins, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season.
