Gretna East had won seven straight road games and Drayke Brown did his part to make it eight on Monday. The Gretna East Griffins came out on top against the Aurora Huskies by a score of 50-40 for which the team can thank Brown, who went 8-for-18 on his way to 22 points. That's the most points he has posted since back in December of 2024.

Talan Hovie was another key player, putting up seven points along with seven rebounds and three steals. He has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last eight times he's played.

Aurora's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Booker Scheierman, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 17 boards. Another player making a difference was Canon Allen, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 13 points.

Gretna East has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.6 points over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Aurora and nudges their season record down to 21-5.

Gretna East wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 65-60 defeat against Scottsbluff on the 13th. Aurora does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
