Basketball Recap: Round Mountain Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Round Mountain entered their contest against Pahranagat Valley on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Round Mountain Knights fell to the Pahranagat Valley Panthers 30-25. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 28-20 back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Round Mountain lost, don't look at Ava Faga. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 11 points and 15 rebounds. That was a full 44% of Round Mountain's points, marking the third time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Layla Faga was another key player, putting up two points in addition to six steals and five boards.

Round Mountain's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 10-8. As for Pahranagat Valley, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-8.

Round Mountain will be playing in front of their home fans against Tonopah at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Tonopah's defense has only allowed 28.3 points per game this season, so Round Mountain's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Pahranagat Valley, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Pahranagat Valley Panthers challenge the White Pine Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
