Basketball Recap: Paige Miller's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Marian over Omaha Central

Marian was the 46-37 winner over Omaha Central when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Marian Crusaders took a 73-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Omaha Central Eagles on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (57), the Crusaders still had to take the loss.

Marian lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Paige Miller, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten steals. Those 14 points gave Miller a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alivia Kuhn, who posted 19 points and seven boards.

It was another big night for Noelle Tcheuhchoua, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 18 rebounds for Omaha Central. Tcheuhchoua's evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Carys Dawson was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Marian has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Omaha Central, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Marian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 67-58 win against Lewis Central on the 25th. As for Omaha Central, they will face off against Papillion-LaVista South at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Omaha Central has three straight victories, Papillion-LaVista South has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
