Basketball Recap: Layne Ruzicka's Big Game Can't Quite Lead North Bend Central over Fort Calhoun

North Bend Central lost against Fort Calhoun back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The North Bend Central Tigers took a 56-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fort Calhoun Pioneers. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

North Bend Central's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Layne Ruzicka, who almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance gave Ruzicka a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Cash Hanis, who posted 15 points.

North Bend Central's defeat dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Fort Calhoun, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-10.

North Bend Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 72-49 victory against David City on the 24th. As for Fort Calhoun, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 60-33 win against Logan View/Scribner-Snyder on the 24th.
