Softball Recap: Fort Walton Beach Has No Trouble Against Tate

Fort Walton Beach's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Tate Aggies. With that win, the Vikings brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Rilyn Douglas made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Douglas was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Fort Walton Beach got a massive performance out of Hannah Isham, who went 4-for-5 with three runs and one RBI. That's the most hits Isham has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Anna Beyhl, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.

Fort Walton Beach was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Fort Walton Beach's record is now 15-8. As for Tate, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fort Walton Beach will head out to challenge Gulf Breeze at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Tate, they will venture away from home to face off against Northview at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Aggies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Chiefs have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season.
