Softball Recap: River Valley Triumphs

River Valley won the last time they faced Highland and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Vikings walked away with a 9-4 victory over the Fighting Scots. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.

Kylie Eastep made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Sam Woods was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Liv Collins, who went 3-for-5 with two RBI and one run.

River Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in five consecutive contests.

River Valley's record now sits at 12-2. As for Highland, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-6.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: River Valley beat the Fighting Scots by a score of 15-5 on Thursday.
