Baseball Game Preview: Pendleton Heights Arabians vs. Richmond Red Devils

The Pendleton Heights Arabians will face off against the Richmond Red Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.

Pendleton Heights is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs on Saturday, they were much more limited against Evansville North on Saturday. They lost 9-1 to the Huskies.

Pendleton Heights saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Grile, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, Richmond made easy work of Fort Wayne South Side on Saturday and carried off a 12-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Red Devils, who have now won six contests by nine runs or more so far this season.

Aiden McWhinney made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Richmond is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-7 otherwise. McWhinney was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ja'Riyah Delucio, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Zander Juday was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI.

Richmond is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Pendleton Heights, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-8 record this season.
