Basketball Recap: Dayton Takes a Loss

Dayton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 58-14 loss at the hands of the Lowry Buckaroos. While losing is never fun, the Dust Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 91st, while the Buckaroos are ranked 12th).

When it comes to explaining why Dayton lost, don't look at Madison Cleland. Despite the final result, she posted seven points and three steals.

Britain Backus continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Lowry, dropping a double-double on 25 points and ten steals. Backus' evening made it 13 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Natalee Formby was another key player, putting up 11 points and five steals.

Dayton's defeat dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Lowry, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-4.

Dayton has already played their next matchup, a 53-8 loss against Churchill County on the 18th. As for Lowry, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 51-41 defeat against Fernley on the 18th.
