Basketball Recap: Pawnee City Beats Tri County for Their Third Straight Victory

Pawnee City hadn't done well against Tri County recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Pawnee City Indians came out on top against the Tri County Trojans by a score of 55-42. For the Indians, this counts as revenge for the 48-35 victory the Trojans walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February.

Pawnee City had a senior duo take command as Anthony Kling went 12 of 20 on his way to 26 points and seven rebounds and Jett Farwell dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Kling has scored at least a third of Pawnee City's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Menninga, who posted six points and ten rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Tri County lost, don't look at Drew Siems. Despite the final result, he went 10 of 22 on his way to 24 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. The match was Siems' fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Trevor Kapke, who had eight points.

The win was the third in a row for Pawnee City, bringing their record for this year to 3-0. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Tri County, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Pawnee City will host Parkview Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Pawnee City knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Parkview Christian likes a good challenge. As for Tri County, they will face off against Southern at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
