League recap: Alexander throws longest pass in league this season for Ashdown

Jake Alexander and C J Gooden provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Central Arkansas Christian. The longest such play in 4A Region 7 this season, the connection resulted in 85 yards.

Nashville extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Bauxite, 58-14. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Scrappers.

Nashville's dynamic duo of Joel Hendry and LaVonte Thomas proved tough for the Miners to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Hendry threw for 324 yards and five touchdowns and Thomas had 177 yards receiving. Donyell King helped Nashville's passing attack out by catching two balls for 122 yards.

Justin Lamb was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 70 yards on 19 carries as Arkansas Baptist bested Bauxite. Austin Sherman also contributed to the rushing game with 38 yards on the ground.

Riley Perkins provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Eagles topped Robinson. He completed 25 passes for 309 yards and four touchdowns and also ran for 17 yards. Perkins' favorite target this week was Robert Paul Upshaw, who caught nine passes for 159 yards.

Devaughn Sanders made the biggest impact on defense this week as Ashdown fell to the Mustangs. The 5-foot-11 junior pulled down two interceptions.

Arkansas Baptist's Perkins and Dakota Newkirk have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 4A Region 7 in both passing and receiving yards. Perkins has thrown for 3248 yards this season, while Newkirk has 77 catches for 1388 yards. Nashville's Jakaree Gaines leads the league in rushing yards with 902.

Gaines of the the Scrappers is only 98 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season.

Arkadelphia and Malvern played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Arkadelphia eventually emerging with a 39-34 victory.
