Basketball Recap: Denver South Falls Short Against Ranked Rangeview

On Tuesday, Denver South faced Rangeview in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Denver South Ravens took a 50-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rangeview Raiders. The contest marked the Ravens' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Despite the loss, Denver South still got an impressive performance from Dominic Rhoades-Martinez, who posted 22 points along with six boards and five steals. Rhoades-Martinez is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jayden Davis, who scored nine points.

Rangeview got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Marceles Duncan out in front who went 5 of 11 en route to 13 points in addition to seven rebounds and five blocks. Ladavian King was another key player, putting up 12 points along with eight boards and three steals.

Denver South has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-7 record this season. As for Rangeview, they pushed their record up to 17-0 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Denver South will challenge Denver East at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Denver East knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight matches -- so hopefully Denver South likes a good challenge. As for Rangeview, they will square off against George Washington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Rangeview is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 73.8 points per game this season.
