Baseball Recap: Central Rebels vs. North County Raiders
Central had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 1-5 to make it four. They came up short against the North County Raiders, falling 7-0. If the Rebels were looking for revenge after losing 9-4 to the Raiders when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.
As for North County, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by seven runs or more this season.
For North County's part, Zak Meador was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave Meador a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Maddox Basler was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Will Weible was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for North County, they will challenge Valley Park at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hawks have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season.
