Baseball Recap: Villa Madonna Finds Home Field Redemption Against Bellevue

There's no place like home for Villa Madonna, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Bellevue Tigers a 3-0 shutout on Saturday. The victory continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won four in a row.

Ryan Timm made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Villa Madonna is 6-3 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 7-9-1 otherwise. Timm was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Conner Burke looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

Timm wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Joe Rice, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Villa Madonna now has a winning record of 13-12-1. As for Bellevue, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-14.

Coming up, Villa Madonna will venture away from home to take on Calvary Christian at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Bellevue, they will head out to square off against Covington Latin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Trojans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.5 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
