Preview: Denison Yellow Jackets vs. McKinney North Bulldogs
Denison is 2-8 against McKinney North since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Denison Yellow Jackets will head out on the road to take on the McKinney North Bulldogs at 5:45 p.m. Denison will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 541st, while McKinney North is ranked 34th).
Denison suffered their biggest loss since November 21, 2023 on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 74-49 walloping at the hands of Princeton. Denison has not had much luck with Princeton recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Meanwhile, McKinney North can now show off 11 landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They blew past Sherman 67-25 on the road. The win was familiar territory for McKinney North who now have five in a row.
McKinney North relied on the efforts of Ciara Harris, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 19 rebounds, and Kaelyn Hamilton, who scored 24 points along with nine rebounds and six steals. Hamilton is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryhan Balous, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Denison bumped their record down to 10-14 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for McKinney North, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 22-10 record this season.
Denison took a serious blow against McKinney North when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 72-34. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Hamilton, who scored 20 points along with seven steals and six rebounds.
